Environmental
With the problems of climate change and the world’s finite energy resources Idesia B&B recognises the need to operate in an energy and resource efficient manner. To achieve this our initiatives are:-
Energy:
A solar panel is installed for heating hot water
We monitor energy use and look at ways to minimize it
Appliances are turned off when not in use
We are replacing light bulbs with more energy efficient ones
Guests have the option on frequency of towel and bed linen changes
Washing is dried outside whenever possible
Water:
We monitor our water and look at ways to reduce supply
A “rainsaver” water tank is installed
Toilets have dual flush option
Bark mulch is used on garden to reduce watering
Waste:
Glass, paper, cans, aluminium and plastic are recycled
Waste food composted for garden
Used clothing and appliances given to support local group
We purchase some items in bulk and choose to reuse shopping bags
Community:
We participate in “Keep Richmond Beautiful”
For daily shopping & services we walk or cycle
Our preference is to purchase local & New Zealand made products
Cancellation
Being a small B&B we are not able to cover lost revenue due to cancellations. It is strongly recommended that guests have comprehensive travel insurance to cover such eventualities.
A cancellation penalty of one nights’ accommodation applies, if cancelled within 48 hours of arrival or in the case of non arrival.
For stays greater than 3 days, a charge of 50% of the total booking will be made if cancelled within a week of arrival.
If we are able to re book the room then no charge will be made for room nights sold.
Privacy
All personal information provided to us will be made secure and not disclosed to any party except in situations of health and safety.
Pet Free
We do not keep pets either on or off site.
